DESIGNING LISTENING ROOMS:
Modern-Day Challenges and Compromises
All listening environments include two important speaker boxes that must work as one. The loudspeaker is speaker box number one, and the room where the listener is sitting is speaker box number two.There are no cookie-cutter solutions and no software to predict the complex multi-layer effects on the sound field from shapes and materials in a listening environment. However, there are long-standing rules and habits developed through the years that must be considered when creating listening solutions and environments.
The presentation will cover the following considerations and best practices with references to real-world case studies.
MEETING DATE: Tuesday, August 29, 2017
PLACE: Sportsmen’s Lodge Event Center, 12833 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604 (at the corner of Ventura Blvd. and Coldwater Canyon).
TIME: Meeting at 8:00 PM. Pre-meeting dinner (optional) at 7:00 PM. Dinner cost is $30 for student members with reservations, $35 for student members without reservations, $35 for members with reservations, $40 for members without reservations, $40 for non-members with reservations and $45 for non-members without reservations. Make a reservation at least 48 hours in advance with the Treasurer - Richard Wollrich at treasurer@aesla.org Please put “AES-LA DINNER RESERVATION” in the email subject line.
MENU: Sportsmen’s Salad with Ranch dressing | Grilled Swordfish Steak | Garlic mashed potatoes | Rolls and Butter | Coffee, Tea, and Iced Tea | New York Cheese Cake with berry coulis.
